Registration –A $20 family registration fee will be collected upon registration of your first class. This is a one time fee per family and will not be collected again, unless your membership lapses due to a skipped session, excluding summer sessions and camps. Payment must be received before the first class. Spaces are reserved upon receipt of a signed registration form and payment. Musical Chairs instructors have attendance sheets – if you are not listed on the instructors roster, you will not be able to attend class. Payments may be made by cash, check or credit card.
PLEASE NOTE: All Accounts not paid in full by the first class of the month, will be charged a $10.00 Late Fee. All Non-Sufficient Funds (NSF) checks received will be charged a $20.00 service fee.
Refunds/Cancellations –There are no refunds issued once the session begins. If a student withdraws from the program before the lessons start a non-refundable administration fee of $25 will be withheld. If inability to attend an entire session is due to illness or other hardship, a credit may be issued for a subsequent session subject to a $25 administrative fee. Musical Chairs understands busy moms and changing schedules. If a class time is not working out, we are always happy to switch you to an available class. If there is no class that works in your schedule, Musical Chairs can issue a credit for a subsequent session subject to a $25 administrative fee. Musical Chairs reserves the right to cancel any class due to inadequate enrollment any time before classes begin, with full refunds provided. Materials paid for and received by the student can not be refunded. Remaining lesson fees will not be refunded after the second lesson of the month, unless a new student can be found to fill the space in the class.
Make-ups –Musical Chairs is happy to provide make-ups but we must have your cooperation if the system is going to work effectively. Simply call 24 hours in advance to check for availability. We do not guarantee make-ups but will do our best to provide them as scheduling permits. There is a limit of 2 MAKE-UPS per child per session. Make-ups do not carry over to the next session. Please use our system. DO NOT JUST SHOW UP AT A CLASS TO DO A MAKE-UP, space is extremely limited in some classes and if the instructor is not expecting you, they may not let you participate. If class is cancelled due to teacher illness, you will be notified of the cancellation and the scheduled make-up day.
Inclement Weather –Musical Chairs follows Katy I.S.D for weather related closings. If KISD is cancelled, Musical Chairs classes will be cancelled. If KISD has a delayed start, we will make the decision whether to hold classes or not (we cannot delay the start time for a class.) Musical Chairs will post our decision on our website or on our voicemail by 8:00am. We cannot reschedule classes cancelled due to weather. Birthday parties – In case of a weather emergency, Musical Chairs will credit the full amount towards a mutually agreed upon rescheduled event or a future class. If the party is cancelled because the Musical Chairs instructor cannot be there, we will refund the party in full.
Visitors –A special aspect of Musical Chairs is our small class size. We cannot allow friends to attend class on a one-time basis. However, we do understand that sometimes it is necessary to bring along an older or younger sibling. If you need to bring a sibling to class, please call the office in advance to reserve a spot – knowing this is coming in advance will allow our classes to remain intimate! Musical Chairs reserves the right to limit the amount of visitors per class. There is a $10 per class charge for sibling visitors. There is not a fee for babies under six months and grownup visitors (i.e. grandparents, mommies or daddies).
Food and Drink – Please help us keep our classrooms clean. Only water is permitted in class. If your child needs a snack, please sit in the lobby area until you are finished, with the exception of those babies nursing or bottle fed in Baby classes.
Dress Code: Kids and Parents should wear comfortable clothes to class. We will be doing a lot of movin’ and shakin’... shoes are not allowed in the classroom. All participants should wear socks in the classroom. Slippers are okay too!
Discipline Policy:When parent is present in class, he/she is the disciplinarian. In those classes where parents are not present, we use A LOT of positive reinforcement for good behaviors, following directions, etc. and will use redirection when needed in neutral (non-punitive) manner. Should the need arise, we may schedule a one-on-one parent/teacher conference.
Health: Please do not bring a sick child to class. If you or your child is not feeling well, please take advantage of our make-up policy. Musical Chairs is very concerned with everyone’s health and safety. Musical Chairs provides kits for each level of class for your child to have their own materials. This allows Musical Chairs to do its part in preventing the spread of germs and illness. Antibacterial disinfectant gel is available for your use to wipe down instruments and materials as you see fit.
Pictures: We may occasionally take pictures of our class(es). If you are not comfortable having your child's picture taken, please let us know.
